MOCRA was pleased to present in Winter 2001/2002, and again in Fall 2002, the first St. Louis showing and the largest ever U.S. installation of Andy Warhol's Silver Clouds. Developed in collaboration with engineer Billy Klüver, the Silver Clouds were created for a 1966 installation at the Leo Castelli Gallery and were later incorporated into a dance piece by choreographer Merce Cunningham. These silver mylar balloons roam with the air currents and respond to the touch of the viewer. Visitors who entered this childlike world of wonder had the opportunity to experience one of Warhol's most joyous works. MOCRA experienced record attendance and the universally enthusiastic response of visitors of all ages was extremely gratifying.

MOCRA is grateful to The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh, Pennsylavania, for its assistance in bringing the Silver Clouds to MOCRA.
